March 2000
The Windhaven aerie has mostly recovered from the Krrzn'tai, and have managed to convince a small group of expert mages from Kefetiu to come and investigate the possibility of rebuilding the shield wall.
February 2000
Balieese, the chieftan of the Tigers, has fallen ill with some sort of terrible disease. It is believed to be a form of plague, and quite contagious.
The biggest news in Shrilk is that the Krrzn'tai's threat finally culminated in a huge attack against Windhaven. Coming up through long-abandoned tunnels, and digging a few of their own, hordes of the insectoids boiled up into the warehouse district, and slaughtered hundreds of gryphons who attempted to defend their home. Eventually the bugs were driven back, and the tunnels collapsed with very powerful explosives (which caused a fair amount of damage and death too).
The funeral pyres burned for days.
several months... oops...
Awrk! Well, I (Stoda) got kinda sucked into other things, and didn't update the board for a while! Lots and lots of things happened, but I don't know what all of them are. Sorry! :( A great war erupted in Rolarii, after months of tensions. After several months of violent conflict a massive set of explosions, apparently magic based, rocked many of the major cities. Check with Balieese for details on how each city was hurt, for only Altaica was unaffected.
April 1999
Cross-Cultural Pain! A small group of felines from Rolarii attempted to make their way across Shrilk to the sphere of Kefetiu. Unfortunately, they made it only a kilometer or so past the enterface before a scouting patrol of Shkrill came across them. The result? The cats mostly managed to escape - two hid, and one ran across the border to Mythrayel.
The runner was brutally savaged, and nearly gutted, and is now in the hospital. Two of the gryphons were shot up by the centaurs, and are slowly recovering in Fort Crag.
The encounter was logged, and should be available shortly.
The gryphon Ausith returned to Shrilk last month, after quite some time spent in the core. What he returned with is a very long scroll of information about the Krrzntai (bugs). It's absolutely loaded with a staggering degree of information.
Much of this month was spent copying the information onto three seperate sets of scrolls. One for Windhaven's archives, and another for each of the other two aeries. Grylra has recieved it's copy, and the Shkrill should get theirs shortly.
Grylra has finally had a few sightings of the bugs. One encounter involved a group of Grylra overflying a group of 4 of the Krrzntai, and then a few Windhaven showing up as well. The young gryphoness Jenna quite foolishly tried to attack the insects, but she was eventually convinced not to do so.
For the first time, it was seen how quickly these creatures can dig their way into loose soil, and they vanished from view after only a few minutes.
The gryphon Surukk was poisoned a month or so ago, and after some time recieving treatment in Mythrayel, has now moved to Argalia to continue his treatment with the dragon Burkaar. Apparently Surukk has been seen in the company of some of the important people of this sphere, including the Queen, Cirall.
March 1999
In Rolarii, King Rakume has appointed another emissary to travel to Sutyl (the Panther homelands) and try for hopefully one last time to make peace.
Balieese, chieftan of tigers, has decided to place a trade embargo on panther imports and exports as well. This does not hurt the tigers much, as they always did notice that panthers seemed to trick them more often than not into a bad deal anyway.
A small group of cats seems determined to get back at the Shkrill for the maimings that occured in months past. If this will fall through or succeed, no one yet knows...
In Shkrill, the young Windhaven gryphoness Jenna was kidnapped by a member of the Grylra, apparently in an effort to garner favor with Stormdancer. This did not have the desired effect, and when Jenna was able to point out the kidnapper, Stormdancer was less than kind to him. Mostly because he wasn't consulted first. Jenna will be returned to her home and adoptive parents soon.
In a very sad scene, Dove finally succumbed to her wounds, and has been laid to rest on the Burial Peak. The concequences for the Shkrill for what has finally become an overt murder may well be quite severe. Already a messenger has been sent to strongly request a meeting between Stormdancer, Altair, and Elizarraraz.
February 1999
The big news this month? The first official in-character sighting of one of the bugs! Simone Sythrr, a fairly new gryphon who was planning on joining Windhaven, was the (un)lucky gryphon who spotted it first. The Krzzntai also spotted Sythrr. The result was fatal for the gryphon. The last few moments of the combat was also seen by one of the Windhaven council - Thaliara - who was patrolling with a wing of fighters. Much to the dismay of all save ktk (the bug in question), their attacks against the insectoid were fruitless. For a log of this event, go here.
In other news, Haidawah (a Grylra gryphon) has lain her single egg, the father of whome is (IC) unknown, save that it was one of the Shkrill who abused her while she was captured. Unfortunately, she decided to lay her egg far outside the Grylra holdings, in the wilderness.
Altair returned home, somewhat hardened by her journey. She hasn't spoken much of her time amongh the Monocerii, although she did find them quite good hosts.
Dove went to the Shkrill, to repair some of the damage that she caused to their aerie, during the attack several months ago. She was under the (mistaken) impression that this work was required of her, by an agreement between the Shkrill and Windhaven. Her good will was taken advantage of by a couple of Shkrill, who had her do some of the work, until she was exhausted, then beat her savagely. Elizarraraz (leader of the Shkrill) arrived in time to prevent them from killing her, and instead had her dropped on the lakeshore near Grylra.
In Rolarii, the lions ruler has been replaced! The old king had gone somewhat mad, and was seldom seen in the castle. His brother, Henro Rakume, is now on the throne. A trade embargo has been placed upon the panthers for their suspected part in the kidnapping (and possible murder) of a couple of lions.
Related to this, representatives of many Tiger mercenary bands have been noticed meeting with the Lion King.
January 1999
Altair (mate of Grylra's leader Stormdancer) laid her eggs, and is preparing to leave the sphere on an expedition with Dione, the monocerous with whome she had quite a fight, several months ago. Hopefully on more even terms now.
Surukk is planning another caravan, which should start off around the 23rd, for Mythrayel, and points west.
"The Bug Plot" as it's come to be known, is starting to heat up. Over the past several weeks there have been very rare sightings, usually around dawn or dusk, of strange creatures near the western interface of Shrilk. So far nothing definate... but how long can that go on?
December 1998
The Grylra held their annual winter festival, and for the first time in known history opened it to other spheres and aeries. Or, at least, to pretty much everyone except the Shkrill. Unfortunately, about this time the Windhaven gryphon Raenwind learned of the Shkrill attack on Surukk, and went ballistic... and suicidally went into Fort Crag's airspace, demanding vengance. What he got was killed.... and his body was discovered during the opening ceremonies of the Winter's Birth festival.
Despite this, the four real-life day festival was a success. Logs of the festival can be read here
Late in the month, a very strange creature from distant spheres turned up in Kefetiu, and is currently exploring that sphere, learning about it's inhabitants.
November 1998
As his caravan passed through the peak of the Mangarth mountains, Windhaven's Far Trader Surukk encountered the Shkrill warrior Khasra. There's a lot of history between these two, and a ferocious battle ensued. In the end, Surukk knocked Khasra nearly unconcious, and then spared his life. The Shkrill staggered off, recovering... while Surukk collapsed, with wounds that would have proven fatal, had not some of the Grylra finally arrived on the scene, with a surgeon who helped patch him together. Surukk is going to be the 'guest' of the Grylra for at least a week, while he recovers.
October 1998
After being abused under the claws of an unknown Shkrill attacker, the Grylra gryphoenss Dove attacked the Shkrill enclave in a rather spectacular manner. Too complicated to go into here, the aftermath left one gryphon dead, and the main enclave of the Shkrill nearly uninhabitable. It also left a number of the Shkrill absolutely furious with the Grylra.
September 1998
In a suprising turn of events, the great Shkrill queen Sharrah has fallen! Struck down by unknown forces, she's nowhere to be found. What isn't known to the IC sphere at large is that Kirrta & Khasra (of Shkrill) and Stormdancer & Windshadow (of Grylra) cooperated in capturing her, then taking her off to a secret place where she was tortured for quite some time. Unfortunately, she escaped, but not without being permanently maimed and disfigured. Where she is now is anyone's guess.
A representative of Kefetiu has entered Shrilk to open up diplomatic relations with the Windhaven. Not gryphons in general, just the Windhaven. This has caused both resentment and concern with the Grylra, and may also incite a reaction from the Shkrill when they find out about it. The Grylra hold position above the south west and the south east interfaces, a position which allows them to oversee or prevent unicorn traffic should they wish to do so. Kwynaiel, the unicorn representative has come to trade knowledge, and also for an as yet unnamed substance which the unicorns wish to 'experiment' with.
August 1998
The Shkrill are in a state of unrest. Sharrah is finally beginning to lose her tenuous hold upon the violent and increasingly blood thirsty clan. Recently she had her guards badly injure the traitor Kirrta and had her left for dead near Windhaven, where she was found, and is now recovering. Her mate, Khasra, having discovered this, came after Sharrah and held her hostage until she told him the location of his mate, at which time he as well made his way to Windhaven and has been declared a traitor to the Shkrill clan. There are even rumors of a plot to kidnap and kill Sharrah, and Kirrta and Khasra will certainly want to see her pay in blood for what she has done.
July 1998
A gryphon crossed the Shrilk/Mythrayel border and attacked a border patrol. It knocked one of the pair unconcious, and murdered the other, dragging him back across the interface. The body was discovered only a few hours later, partially eaten, near the Skhrill enclave. The culprit remains unknown, and the Shkrill are the most obvious suspects.
