Spheres MUX - Shrilk

Introduction to Shrilk

Shrilk is home to the Gryphons - a creature that looks a great deal like a cross between a lion and an eagle. They possess the wings, head, beak and forelegs of a giant eagle, and the hindquarters of a lion, the two mingling right about the midsection. For detailed information about the gryphons of Shrilk, go here.

Although the Gryphons of today have a reputation of being savage, ruthless and unpredictable, there is only some truth to this. In the golden years of Shrilk, the gryphons were respected as wise, clever and compassionate. They had magnificent cities, with incredible displays of their magics and artistic creations.

Unfortunately, a civil war wracked the sphere some 400 years ago, which almost completely destroyed their greatest cities. Another, much more savage war occured about 150 years ago, which completely destroyed the capital city, as well as killing off almost all the great mages.

Sunset over shrilk

Looking eastward, across the great pyramid, to the Faelrah mountains, home of the Fort Stormwind. With it's twin suns, Shrilk is home to some of the most spectacular sunsets of the known spheres.

The hard times after this war have left Shrilk fragmented into three major groups.

The great city of Windhaven has finally managed to regain some of it's former glory. The gryphons here are civil, rational and well organized. Visitors to Shrilk will certainly be welcomed here, if they are respectful of it's denizens.

The other extreme is the inhabitants of the Shkrill aeries. These gryphons have felt terribly wronged by events in the war, and these feelings have done nothing but intensify over the years. Vicious and dangerous, these are still very intelligent and clever creatures, never to be underestimated. They are fiercely territorial and xenophobic. Visitors should take great care when passing through their lands - the northeastern regions, including, unfortunately, the road to the eastern interface.

Grlyra falls somewhere between these two. Their aerie is in the southwestern region, the Churnel mountain cluster. Posessing little in the way of a formalized government, the careful traveller will make quite sure of their intentions before accepting any invitations to dinner.

Other small clans, often of less than 20 Gryphons, are scattered throughout the mountains and woods that cover this sphere. For more information about the aeries, clans, and fortresses that are peppered through this mountainous land, be sure to look over this document - clans

The cities shown are, clockwise from the top left - Windhaven, Shkrill, and Grylra.

Not marked on this map, near the northeast border, are the abandoned ruins of Raenlocke.
